Description

Fitter-Assemblers assemble the metal and composite components that make up aircraft structures. Their work is carried out in accordance with precise instructions and in compliance with the technical documentation (production orders, drawings, work processes, etc.). They perform all the fitting, assembly and production control operations for which they are responsible.

Tasks

  • Reading and interpreting technical documents: drawings, production orders, work processes, data sheets, etc.
  • Assembling components: assembling metal and composite parts according to specifications.
  • Carrying out fitting operations: adjusting, rectifying and positioning parts to ensure they are properly aligned.
  • Compliance control: checking the quality, correct operation and compliance of assemblies.
  • Performing operations with tools and machines: drills, hand tools, inspection machines, etc.
  • Ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards: following the procedures and regulations in force in the aerospace industry.

Intended for

This course is open to all types of profiles.

Goals

The training course is intended to prepare trainees for the job of Aircraft Structure Fitter-Assembler. The course content is designed to give trainees the skills needed to become an Aircraft Airframe Fitter, in order to validate the 9 specialisations required for the French Professional Qualification in Metallurgy (CQPM) "Aircraft Structure Fitter-Assembler" - MQ 2000 0187 R. For more information, please consult the France Compétences website, specifying the French National Register of Professional Qualifications (RNCP) code corresponding to the course, which can be found in the downloadable programme available on the specific page devoted to the course. This will provide you with detailed information about the certification.

At the end of the course, trainees will be able to:

  • Check the supply of equipment, tools and components required for assembling mechanical parts.
  • Adjust the span of an element on a structure according to one or more drawings.
  • Attach and position the parts or sub-assemblies to be assembled.
  • Carry out machining to remove material on a metal, composite and/or hybrid assembly.
  • Produce an assembly by riveting and fitting fasteners and/or by adhesive bonding.
  • Carry out finishing and electrical bonding operations.
  • Apply interposition and/or sealant products.
  • Remove a part from a mechanical assembly.
  • Repair dents and scratches and/or carry out cosmetic repairs.

Prerequisites

Candidates must be interested in manual trades in the aeronautical industry.

  • French: Equivalent competence level "Elementary A2" (CEFR Global scale of common reference levels for skills)
  • Mathematics: Equivalent level of competence to "Cycle 3" according to the French government gazette (Bulletin Officiel) of 26/11/2015.
